Park district, businesses team up for decorative classes

The Oregon Park District, Merlin’s Greenhouse & Flowers and Cork & Tap have been pooling their resources and working together to offer fun workshops for adults.

“The park district is offering two classes where participants can get out for an evening, sip on their favorite beverage from Cork & Tap and enjoy a hands-on craft class/workshop instructed by the talented staff at Merlin’s Greenhouse,” said Tina Ketter, superintendent of recreation.

On Oct. 16, participants can learn to make decorative bows.

“Choose your ribbon and make a fall bow which will be attached to some Indian Corn for a great fall door swag,” said Ketter. “Then create a holiday bow and attach to a pine swag. Tips and Tricks to bow making will be shared and participants will leave with two great pieces of décor.

Choose between 6-7 p.m. class or the later 7:30-8:30 p.m. class options. The fee is $32 for residents of the park district and $38 for non residents.

The registration deadline is Oct. 8.

“On Nov. 21, participants will learn techniques for designing arrangements and will be creating their very own floral centerpiece inside a real pumpkin!,” Ketter said. “This workshop will be on Thursday, Nov. 21 with again two classes to choose from: 6-7 p.m. or 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Class fee is $38/resident or $45/non-resident. Registration deadline is Nov. 13.

Classes are held at Cork & Tap, but registration is through the Oregon Park District.
