Two Rockford men die in crash

Two Rockford men were killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 39 a mile north of Illinois 72.

Moo Ler, 50, and Leonardo Lozano, 51, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at milepost 112.

Illinois State Police said Ler was northbound on I-39 when the car he was driving went out of control and crossed through the center median into the southbound lanes where it was struck by a semi tractor-trailer driven by Kenneth B. Miller, 51, of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Lozano was a passenger in Ler’s car. Miller was uninjured.

The crash occurred at 2:38 p.m., and traffic on I-39 was re-routed for about four hours.
