District 1: Welty, Barnes, Kilker

Voters Ogle County Board District 1, which includes the City of Oregon, went to the polls Tuesday to choose the candidates they want to see in November’s general election.

In the Republican race, five candidates were vying for three spots on the November ballot.

Challenger Bill Welty received the most votes with 1,312 followed by incumbents Jim Barnes with 1,055 and Lynne Kilker with 1,053 votes.

Failing in their bids, were challengers Seth Gelander with 938 votes and Randy Anderson with 704 votes.

Also advancing to the general election was the lone Democrat, Thomas Smith, who received 281 votes.

Smith, Welty, Barnes, and Kilker will vie for three seats on the Ogle County Board in the November election.
