Grief support group meets on third Sundays
The Compassionate Friends is a national nonprofit, self-help support group for families who have experienced the death of a child of any age.
There is no religious affiliation or membership dues.
The group offers hope, understanding, and friendship to bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents.
The group meets the third Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. at 860 West Oregon Trail Rd., Oregon.
About one half of the meetings consists of a speaker who talks about grief related topics
The rest of the meeting is an open discussion format.
The December meeting has been changed to the second Sunday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. for the observance of the Worldwide Candle Lighting held to remember all children, siblings, and grandchildren who have died.
All families that have experience the death of a child, sibling, or grandchild are welcome, as are friends.
Bring a photo of a loved one to be placed on the Memory Table.
Anyone not able to attend may participate by simply lighting a candle at home alone, or with friends and family at 7 p.m.
