Herbert F. Davis, 98, Oregon, died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Pinecrest Community, Mt. Morris.
Herbert was born in Savanna on April 11, 1921 to Frank and Agnes (Messmer) Davis.
He married Marian Keim on July 18, 1942 in Savanna. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2019.
They moved to Oregon in 1959 and together they joined Oregon United Methodist Church.
He worked as an operating engineer and was part of Operating Engineers Local 150 for 60 years.
Herbert was a member of the Cyrus Masonic Lodge in Mt. Carroll for 65 years.
He had a passion for vehicles and owned a Pontiac dealership in Mt. Carroll for 10 years.
He also restored cars, trucks, and tractors which he continued to do into his 90s.
He is survived by his children, Eric (Patricia) Davis, of Byron, Mark (Barbara) Davis, of Oregon, and Sheila Johnson, of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) Boyden, Eric Ryan (Velvette) Davis, Peter (Megha Patel) Probst, Danielle Johnson; great-grandchildren Kylan Springman and Suriya Probst.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian; parents; and granddaughter, Shelley Shelton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Serenity Hospice and Home.
The family wishes to thank all of his wonderful caregivers at Pinecrest Terrace for their professional and compassionate care.
