The Oregon Chapter of P.E.O. International celebrated its 65th anniversary on May 13.

A look back over 65 years of existence provided memories and confirmed many accomplishments.

The local chapter is also marking the sesquicentennial of the international chapter making it a twofold celebration.

The international organization’s mission statement reads, “P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.”

“With that mission in mind the local chapter takes pride, in conjunction with the International chapter, in giving $3,500 in scholarships to three well-deserving young ladies from the 2019 Oregon High School graduating class,” said Oregon chapter president Pam Steele. “Chapter IU Oregon looks forward to continuing another 65 years and beyond in our mission to celebrate, educate, and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.”
