John B. "Jay" Franklin, 69, lifelong area resident, died on Wednesday April 10, 2019 in his own bed in his own home with his children by his side.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1949 in Oregon, the son of John W. and Patricia (Hilger) Franklin.
Jay was a graduate of Oregon High School and Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
He was associated with Bemis Motor Company in Oregon and Byron for nearly 50 years, lastly as owner and operator and continued dealing with cars after retiring.
Jay enjoyed hiking, nature and learning history and had a passion for travel, especially to Arizona.
He is survived by his mother, Pat Franklin, of Oregon; son, Andrew Franklin, of Byron; daughters, Whitney Franklin and Maddie Franklin, both of Byron; brother, Todd (Lori) Franklin, of Camdenton, Missouri; and sister, Leslie (David) Sadowski, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was predeceased by his father.
A memorial celebration of Jay's life will be held on Sunday, May 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at his home at 8827 N. Conger Rd., Leaf River. Private family burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jay's name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
