Jill L. Carlson, 58, of Mt. Morris and formerly of Oregon, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 while traveling in Puerto Rico.
She was born on March 17, 1960 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Jimmy and Diane (Bechtold) Utley. Married to Timm Carlson April 10, 1981 in Oregon.
Jill was a 1978 graduate of Oregon High School and also a graduate of Rock Valley Community College.
She retired in December of 2016 from the Illinois Secretary of State Department of Motor Vehicles as the Oregon Facility Manager.
Jill was Mt. Morris Cub Scouts Committee Chairwoman, a member of the Mt. Morris Let Freedom Ring Committee, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Timm Carlson, of Mt. Morris; sons, Tyler (Elizabeth) Carlson, of Cary, and Trace (Hannah Patnaik) Carlson, of Washington, DC; grandsons, Emmett and Grant Carlson; brother, Jimmy (Jessica) Utley, of Dixon; sister, Susan (Dale) Price, of Dixon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jay and Mary Bechtold; father, Jimmy Lee Utley; mother, Diane Thompson; and step-father, Charles Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with Pastor David Rogula officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jill's name may be made to the Nachusa Grasslands, Let Freedom Ring, or Oregon High School Athletic Department.
