March - Gylian Finch
Gylian Finch was nominated and selected as Oregon High School’s Senior of Distinction for March.
“Gylian is a leader in the classroom, on the field, and in her community. Anyone who knows her, knows that she is a three sport athlete, but loves volleyball the most,” Danyel Larsen, AP Calculus teacher said. “ It has been so much fun to watch her hone her skills on the court over the last four years and to listen to her talk about her traveling team’s tournaments.
“It is obvious to me that Gylian gives as much effort to excelling in her athletics as she does in her academic pursuits. I see the leadership skills that she works on with her teammates showing up in the classroom as well. Her peers look to her for guidance and help – coupled with her fun loving attitude, Gylian is an absolute pleasure to be around,” Larsen said.
April: Bailey Montavon
Bailey Montavon was nominated and selected as Oregon High School’s Senior of Distinction for April.
“Bailey is a hard working individual both in the classroom and in her extra-curricular activities. She performs very well in class and always has a positive attitude,” Cole Davidson, AP Statistics said. “Her disposition along with her innate mathematical abilities have propelled her to being one of the top students in her class.
“Her work ethic has also paid off in her extra-curricular activities. She was named all-conference in basketball as a junior and again as a senior and broke every Oregon High School girls basketball record for rebounds. Overall, Bailey is an excellent representative for what it means to be an Oregon Hawk.”
Seniors of Distinction are chosen after OHS employees nominate any senior who displays qualities and talents they wish every student possessed and/or who have great grades and are involved in service to both school and community.
