The Oregon High School wrestling program plans to recognize the 20th anniversary of the 1998 IHSA state championship wrestling team and the 10th anniversary of the 2008 third place team.

The event is planned to take place on Saturday, Jan. 13. Oregon will be hosting Princeton, Lutheran and Riverdale high schools that morning, during which attending members of the 1998 and 2008 teams will be recognized.

Meet time is scheduled for 10 a.m. that morning.

1998 and 2008 wrestling alumni who plan on attending should plan to arrive at the Blackhawk Center by 9 a.m. and report to the aerobics room for a light breakfast reception.

Admission for attending alumni will be free, simply identify yourself to the ticket takers at the door.

"We ask that you make sure to sign in upon arrival so we can announce everyone correctly," said Kip Crandall, OHS wrestling coach. "Head coaches Mike Papini and Nate Rogers will both be in attendance. Coach Papini was instrumental in establishing the strong Oregon Hawk wrestling tradition and for whom Coach Rogers wrestled. Coach Rogers continued the tradition of Hawk Wrestling during his coaching tenure.

"Attending alumni will have the option to simply be announced or take the microphone and introduce themselves and share what their experience meant to them," Crandall said. "We are hopeful our former wrestlers make it back to enjoy the morning."

Papini will be having his gathering at his home immediately following the conclusion of wrestling.

The 2008 team will make plans the morning of the reunion about gathering afterward.
