Remember Halloween safety rules

Polo’s trick-or-treat hours on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31 are from 5 to 8 p.m.

Police Chief Kurt Cavanaugh reminds residents who wish to hand out candy to turn on their porch lights for the children.

He also advises youngsters to remember the Halloween safety rules:

• Young children should always go trick-or-treating with an adult.

• Never trick-or-treat alone.

• Be cautious of strangers.

• Only visit houses where the porch lights are on.

• Never go inside a house.

• Wear costumes with reflective markings and bright colors.

• Costumes should never drag on the ground.

• Wait until you get home and have your parents check your candy before you eat it.

• Walk, do not run, and have a safe Halloween.
