Fall Fest set for Oct. 27 at DUMC

The Mt. Morris Disciples United Methodist Church women will host their annual Fall Fest dinner on Friday, Oct. 27 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

This has been a long standing tradition in the community since the early 1930s when the women held a day-long bazaar and served a full turkey dinner at the old Methodist Church on McKendrie Avenue.

Turkeys were donated by the Baker Turkey Farm, and women spent weeks creating one of a kind ornaments, household helpers, cookbooks, and more to sell at the bazaar.

Today the church women serve their famous turkey casserole family-style with all the trimmings of cranberry salad, rolls, relishes, and diner's choice of homemade pie. Seconds are encouraged.

This year's event which will include a Cookies by the Pound sale and silent auction of trendy, useful, and fun items.

New this year is a coffee shop where one can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and cookies. These three events will take place from 3 to 7 p.m.

The cost of the dinner is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6-12, and children 5 and under eat free. Reservations are not needed.

Carry out dinners are also available for an additional 50 cents.
