Once again, the Mt. Morris Community Farmer’s Market will have a special highlight at the Friday market.
Loyal market-goers will have a special treat on Friday, Aug. 4 when the Flickingers, weekly market shoppers from Sugar Grove, will bring their two stroke “ hit and miss” engine to display and power the making of homemade ice cream.
They are known for their ice cream on the threshing machine show circuit, as well as, at fairs and other festivals.
Larry Flinkinger will also have his heritage ice cream scoop collection on display and samples of ice cream will be given out.
The market is held each Friday, June through October, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Union Savings parking lot at Ill. 64 and Wesley Avenue.
Local products of maple syrup, baked goods, produce in season, handmade jewelry, jams and jellies, perennials, succulents, and handmade items are available.
Sweet corn will be at the market for the next few weeks.
The market is always looking for vendors, particularly with produce, but anyone interested in setting up at the market – no fee required – should call Lynnette Hough at 815-734-6006.
The Mt. Morris Friday night Jamboree Concert is held just one block south of the market at 7 p.m. at the Reckmeyer Band Shell.
1960s tribute band Shindig will play on Friday, Aug. 4.
