Linda Mary Burke, 72, Polo, died at 11:35 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Polo Rehab and Health Care Center.
She had worked as a cook for the Polo Rehab and Health Care Center and last worked at Casey’s in Polo where she made the doughnuts every morning.
She was born on April 13, 1942 in Elkhorn Grove Township, Carroll County, to Ervin George and Amy Louise (Shipman) Shuman.
She married Robert Burke on June 21, 1963. He preceded her in death.
Linda had attended Milledgeville High School.
She loved her family, her job, and loved to cook.
She is survived by a daughter, Teresa L. (Paul) Jenkins, Polo; two sons, Steve (Marti) Burke, Butte, Mont., and Kevin (Karyn) Mon, Mt. Carroll; five stepsons; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Polzin, Polo, Bev (Tom) Harmon, Chadwick, and Connie (Leon) Medenblik, Chadwick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Bonnie Shuman and Donna Hansen.
A celebration of life visitation was scheduled on Wednesday, July 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Polo Senior Center.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The Polo Family Funeral Home in Polo is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowersmemorials may be directed to the Ahlzheimer’s Association.
