Ruth V. Nevenhoven

Ruth V. Nevenhoven, 90, formerly of Forreston and Polo, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Stephenson Nursing Center, Freeport.

Ruth was born Jan. 9, 1924 in Ogle County, the daughter of Fred and Hattie (Locker) Duncan.

Ruth married Roy R. Nevenhoven on Aug. 7, 1943 in Ogle County. He died on May 2, 2010.

Ruth attended Forreston Grove Church.

She was a very caring person. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life.

Surviving are a son, Larry (Carol) Nevenhoven, Temecula, Calif.; daughter, Linda (Dennis) Coleman, Freeport; brother, Donald (Betty) Duncan, Mt. Morris; five grandchildren, Tim (Laurie Lee) Coleman, Todd Coleman, Scott (Liza) Nevenhoven, Tyler (Julie) Coleman, and Susan Nevenhoven; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are special friends Georgia Herman and Barbara Nevenhoven and many others friends she made while at the Stephenson Nursing Center.

Ruth also was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wilma; and brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Forreston Grove Church with Pastor Jeremy Cheezum officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. A visitation will also be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial funds have been established for the Stephenson Nursing Center and Forreston Grove Church.
