The Forreston/Polo softball team played four games last week in contradictory fashion.

The Cardinal squad played errorless ball in two victories against South Beloit but misplayed 12 balls in losses to strong Amboy and Pearl City teams.

The start of the week saw Forreston beat South Beloit 5-1 behind the 4-hit pitching of Abby Peterson.

Jess Slater led the offense with three hits and Hailey Ingram added two. Forreston broke the game open with a 4-run sixth inning highlighted by a Destiny Darmon RBI double and a two-run single by Slater.

The following day Forreston played sloppy defense and could only muster five hits against undefeated Amboy. The Clippers repeatedly made key defensive plays in their 11-0 victory.

The Cardinal nine almost duplicated their previous South Beloit victory by winning 6-1 on the road. Abby Peterson was the winning pitcher again and was supported by a 15-hit barrage.

Batsmen with two hits included Destiny Darmon, Olivia Peterson and Paige Peterson. Darmon slugged a home run in the sixth inning and Rebekah Wilken had a triple in the seventh that plated a runner.

To close out the week Forreston lost to a Pearl City team that had entered the game with a 9-3 record.

Hurler Jozi Grobe pitched well but the team defense did not support her efforts committing six errors in the 8-4 loss.

The offense hit well with two hits each by Destiny Darmon, Olivia Peterson, Hailey Ingram, Paige Peterson and Rebekah Wilken.

The Cardinal softball team now sports a 6-3 won loss record.
