Helen M. Ports

Helen M. Ports, 92, of Polo, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.  

Helen was born May 21,1921, in Polo, the daughter of Roy C. and Clara (Roesch) Ports.

She worked at Polo National Bank for 31 years starting as a bank teller and working her way up to vice president.  

Helen was a devoted lifetime member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Polo (formerly Emmanuel United Methodist Church) and a member of the United Methodist Women.  

She loved her family, friends and community.

Survivors include a brother, R. Eldon Ports, Polo; nephew, James Ports; great-niece, Rachel Ports; great-nephews, Sean (Ainsley) and Derek Ports.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, William and Marlene Ports; niece, Pam Ports; and special friend, Raymond Rhodes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Polo.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established in her name.  

At Helen’s request, her body was donated to science.
