Ogle County Sheriff Department activity

Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn reports the following activity.

Jan. 28

John K. Green, 33, Byron, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear when he turned himself into the Ogle County Jail. He posted the $241 bond, and does not have to appear in court again.

William A. Pillion, 41, Rochelle, was arrested at the Ogle County Courthouse on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. He was unable to post $802 bond and after a court appearance, his bond was lowered to $135 full cash. He posted bond, was released, and will appear in court at a later date to continue paying his fines.

Jan. 29

At about 2:44 p.m., deputies and Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS Personnel, along with members from the Stillman Fire Department, responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a school bus in the 300 block of W. Chicago Ave., Davis Junction.

Upon completing an investigation into the accident, it was determined that the Meridian School District bus was eastbound at that location, slowing to a stop, when a Pontiac Sunfire driven by Jacqueline, Zimmerman, 17, Davis Junction, was eastbound behind the school bus and was unable to stop her vehicle on the ice covered road. Her vehicle rear ended the school bus. Very little damage was done to the bus and the Pontiac was drivable. There were no injuries.

David Merritt, 30, (no town provided) was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Merritt’s bond was set at $1,244.50.

Jan. 30

At approximately 4:45 p.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident in the 7,000 block of S. Ill. Ill. 26. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Marcia L. Dewey, 29, Polo.

Dewey was extricated from the vehicle by the Polo Fire department and then transported to KSB hospital in Dixon for minor injuries sustained in the accident.

After an investigation, it was discovered that Dewey was passing other vehicles on the icy roadway when she lost control of her 2005 Dodge Durango and entered the ditch on the east side of the roadway where the vehicle rolled over and came to rest on the drivers side. Any issuance of citations was still pending at the time of this release.

At 2:50 p.m., deputies along with Illinois State Conservation Police and the Oregon Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1300 block of E. Ill. 64. The accident occurred when a white Subaru, driven by Andrezej Zasadny, 59, Rockford, was eastbound on Ill. 64 when his vehicle crossed the center line striking a Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Benjamin Newcomer, 34, Oregon, head on.

Zasadny was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford by Oregon EMS with a shoulder injury. Newcomer refused medical treatment. The accident remains under investigation.

Jan. 31

Damon Christidis, 19, Rockford, was arrested at the Boone County Jail and transported to the Ogle County Jail on an outstanding warrant for reckless driving. He posted $500(10%) bond, was released, and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 10.

Christopher Bryant, 38, Batavia, was arrested at the Dekalb County Jail and transported to the Ogle County Jail on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. His bond was set at $1,058 pending a Feb. 3 court appearance.

James Linker, 40, Rockford, was arrested when he turned himself in to the Ogle County Jail on a warrant for failure to appear. He posted $275 bond, was released, and will have no further court appearances.

At 10:30 p.m., deputies along with Illinois State Police and the Ashton Fire Dept responded to Chana Road and Ill. 38 for a report of a one-vehicle roll over accident.

After an investigation, it was determined that Laura Kristofferson, 31, Rochelle, was westbound on Ill. 38 when she was unable to negotiate a curve, entered the shoulder of the roadway and lost control causing her vehicle to roll into the ditch.

Kristofferson was transported to Rochelle Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

At the hospital, Kristofferson was issued citations for driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage.

Kristofferson was released on an I-bond and will appear in court at a later date. The crash remains under investigation. 

Kyle Slater, 23, German Valley, was arrested when he turned himself in to the Ogle County Jail on a petition to revoke warrant. He posted 10% of a $10,000 bond and was released. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21.

Feb. 1

At approximately 2:17 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the 17,000 block of W. Ill. 64. After an investigation, Alyssa Trotter, 22, Polo, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Trotter was also issued citations for having an expired registration and improper lane usage. She was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.

Feb. 2

At 9:14 p.m., deputies stopped a green Nissan in the 200 block of Clark Street, Monroe Center, for failure to signal and only one tail light. After an investigation, Zachary Stevens, 20, Rockford, was charged with driving while under the influence, possession of drug equipment, failure to signal and one tail light. 

Also arrested was Alyssa Stevens, 18, Rockford, for possession of cannabis. Both were transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were held in lieu of bond.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Ill. 52 and Freeport Road. After an investigation, Nathan Jarvi, 31, Clinton, Iowa, was arrested for driving while license suspended and on two failure to appear warrants from Whiteside County for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and a contempt of court warrant from Whiteside County. Jarvi was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Curtis W. Yarbrough, 35, Dixon, was arrested on two outstanding warrants one for driving while license revoked/obstructing ID and failure to appear on for contempt of court. The revoked license warrant has a $30,000 (10%) bond and the failure to appear has a $557 full cash bond. Yarbrough was scheduled to appear in court on

Feb. 3

At 1 a.m., deputies stopped a red Chevy S-10 pick up in the 2000 block of south Chana Road for improper lane usage and obstructed registration. After an investigation, Jimmy Wilson, 53, Chana, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Wilson also received citations for improper lane usage and for driving on the shoulder. He was being held at the Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond and will appear in court at a later date.

At 1:31 a.m., deputies responded to 3747 W. Ill. 64 Lot 131 for a report of a disturbance. After a short investigation, Susan Brown, 42, Mt. Morris, was arrested for battery. Brown was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond. Ogle County Deputies were assisted by Mt. Morris Police.

At approximately 12:07 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the 11,000 block of Pines Road after a Polo officer had witnessed the driver go into the ditch. After an investigation, David Ong, 52, Eldridge, Iowa, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Ong was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Arlene M. Estes, 42, Rochelle, was arrested on a warrant for driving while license suspended. Estes’s bond was set at $3,000 (10%) pending a court appearance.

Sandra K. Noble, 43, Freeport, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a driving while license suspended charge. Noble’s bond was set at $3,551. She is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21.

Kenneth Huckabee, 39, Mt. Morris, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Huckabee appeared in court and his bond was reduced to $150 full cash. Huckabee posted bond and was given a return court date of Feb. 24.

Paul Lamont, 39, Poplar Grove, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Lamont appeared in court and was released on a $1,000 recognizance bond. Lamont is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 24.

Lannas Tedrow, 30, (no town provided), was arrested on a warrant for driving while license suspended. Tedrow appeared in court and was released on $1,000 recognizance bond. Tedrow is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 24.

Orin Carter, 27, Oregon, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Carter appeared in court and was released on $1,000 recognizance bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 24.
