Hortense Ludwig

Hortense “Pat” Ludwig, 88, of Forreston died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at Polo Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Polo, after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1925 in Saint Louis, Mo., the daughter of Lee and Gladys (Gay) Falkner.

She married Ed Ludwig on March 10, 1973 in Rockford.

For eight years Ludwig was the manager of the Scripture Book Store in Rockford.

She was a member of Forreston Reformed Church. She was active in the library and taught Catechism classes, she was also in the church choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ed; her son, Larry Jenkins, Forreston; her daughter, Linda Jenkins, Rockford; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Ludwig, Forreston, and Priscilla Ludwig, Lanark; nine nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; 10 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother and sister-in law, Forrest and Marie Falkner; two brothers-in-laws, LeRoy and Herman Ludwig; and her great-niece, Heidi Ludwig.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at Forreston Reformed Church with Rev. Tim Frey and Rev. James A Stralow officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Burial will be in Haldane Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Serenity Hospice of Oregon and Forreston Reformed Church.

Arrangements are being completed by Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston.
