Kathryn L. Weaver

Kathryn (Kitty) L. Weaver, 93, Freeport, died on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Parkview Home.

Kathryn was born Nov. 8, 1919 to W. Floyd and Anna (Brimblecom) Stauffer in Polo. 

She graduated in 1937 from Polo High School and married Wayne Weaver on Nov. 8, 1939. He died on April 8, 1982.

Together they had one son, David.

Kathryn was a charter member of the Buffalo Grange, Polo.

After moving to Freeport in March of 1951, she was a member of the Germania Club and Embury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School from 1951-1961.

She worked at Read-Weise Department store for 25 years and after retirement continued to work at New Spirit Dress Shop.

Kathryn was a current member at First United Methodist Church, Freeport.

She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, reading, music and watching sports games on TV.

She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was able to spend a lot of time with them.

Kathryn is survived by her grandsons, Mark (Julie) Weaver, Cedarville and Steven (Mary Pat) Weaver, New Lenox; great-grandchildren, Karlie and Amanda Weaver, Cedarville, and Michael, Matthew and Kaitlyn Weaver, New Lenox; nephew, Robert (Donna)  Wolf, Dixon; nieces, Jeanne Novak, Painesville, Ohio, Joanne (Clifford) Smith, Dixon, and Theresa (Joe) Wolf, Dixon; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lubbs, Polo; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; and son, David, on March 16, 1993; as well as her sisters and brother-in-laws, Gladys and James Wolf and Emmerson Herbsleb; nephew, Roger Herbsleb and great-nephew, Randy Smith.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport, with Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating.  

Visitation was scheduled from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill, Dixon. 

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Freeport First United Methodist Church.
