Forreston Cardinals to host Lena-Winslow Panthers in 1A football playoffs Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Forreston Cardinals will host the Lena-Winslow Panthers in Forreston on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. in Forreston.

The opening game of the playoffs will determine who advances to Round 2 in the Class 1A state tournament.

The Cardinals faced Le-Win Oct. 4 and lost 38-33 in a thrilling game which both teams had opportunities to score.

Lena-Winslow carries 6-3 record into the playoffs. The Panthers lost to Cerro Gordo in week one, Aug. 30 by a score of 26-21. There other losses were to Eastland-Pearl City 34-21 on Sept. 27 and Galena, 15-14, on Oct. 11.

Forreston’s only other loss this season came at the hands of 2A’s Eastland-Pearl City on Oct. 25, 26-7.

EPC ended the season undefeated with a 9-0 record and will host Chicago’s Luther North on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Other area playoff games in 1A on Saturday are: Alden-Hebron (6-3) at Stockton (9-0) at 1 p.m.; Galena (7-2) at East Dubuque (7-2)  at 1 p.m.; and Freeport Aquin (6-3) at Rockford Christian Life (8-1)  at 1 p.m..
