Students at Oregon Elementary School gathered around the flagpole Sept. 13 to sing patriotic songs for friends, family, and guests.

The students were taking part in the annual National Anthem Day.

"It is a lot of practice," said sixth grade student Taylor Wilson. "We started at the beginning of the school year. I am glad it worked out. It is great to see everyone lined up."

Lined up directly behind the first row of students were members of the Oregon VFW, Oregon Fire Department, Oregon Police Department, and active military servicemen.

"I liked seeing all the smiles of the veterans," said sixth grade student Lauren Montivon.

Classmate Kailynn Weber also enjoyed singing for the gathered crowd.

"It is nice seeing everyone come here and seeing everyone waving flags," she said.

The students all had small American flags and waved them during the patriotic songs.

This was the fifth time these three students participated in the event.

"We have done this for 5 years now," said Montivon. "We started in second grade."

"We know all of the songs," said Wilson. "And this program is a cool routine.
