Helen R. Garland

Helen R. Garland, 59, Walnut, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by her friends and family.

Helen was born Aug. 17, 1954 in Dixon, the daughter of Wayne Clinton and Betty Jane (Wagner) Palmer.  

She worked at Walnut Manner Nursing Home in Walnut for 10 years, she retired on March 1, 2013.  

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church, Polo.  

She graduated from Polo Community High School, later went on to Sterling School of Beauty and also La James College of Hairstyling, Mason City, Iowa.  

Helen enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her dog Baxter.

Survivors include one daughter Sarah (Black) Cunliffe, Wyanet; one brother, Roger (Jane) Palmer, Polo; four grandchildren, Camron, Gabbi, Shayla, and Mikey; one niece, Jena Pilling; one nephew, Jarrin Palmer; two great-nieces Kennedi and Kenzie; and two great-nephews Kurtis and Johnny.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation was held Sept. 10 at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.  

Cremation rites will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
