A crowd estimated at more than 300 turned out to help raise money for the Rock River Center during the annual barbecue dinner and auction fundraiser.

Linda Duffy, Activities Coordinator at the center, attended the fundraiser.

"I thought the attendance was good this year," she said. "We were grateful for the turnout and we served over 300 people at the barbecue."

The event featured a barbecue dinner cooked up by Oregon Powerhouse BBQ and ended with a live auction.

Duffy said the fundraising committee for the event was working on final numbers Tuesday and expected to have them available before the end of the week.

Rock River Center Executive Director Ann Haas said the fundraiser is vital to helping keep the services available at the center.

Proceeds from the event go to costs associated with running the building.

The event in previous years was held to raise money to finish construction of the new building and now the event helps keep the building open.

An open house is planned at the center in November to celebrate the completion of the building.
