Mildred Louise (Gigi) Erhart, 90, died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon.

She was born in Chicago on April 29, 1923.

Mildred had spent most of her life in the Chicago suburb of Western Springs where she raised a family and lived a total of 56 years in the home constructed by her father, a builder.

She moved to Pinecrest independent living apartments, Mt. Morris, in February of 2013 to be nearer to her son, Keith Erhart and his family.

She loved the many new friends she made there, and when asked if she missed her home after its sale was completed, she said, “Maybe a little…but mostly it’s a relief.”

Mildred had a stroke June 1 and was then no longer able to live in her apartment.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Frank Andrew. They were married May 10, 1947.

Mildred and her family enjoyed a big 90th birthday celebration in Mt. Morris this April.

Mildred was a homemaker and a bookkeeper, meticulous about her records and everything else until her stroke.

She enjoyed socializing, dancing, knitting, card playing, golfing, traveling, and other activities over her lifetime, too numerous to mention.

But most of all, she enjoyed her family, especially the little ones.

Mildred is lovingly remembered by her son, Keith (Louise) Erhart, Mt. Morris, and her daughter, Sheryl Suomi, Flossmoor. Grandchildren include Emily (Nate) Rogers, Oregon, Luke (Hannia) Erhart, Houston, Texas, Jennifer Constantino, Fairport Harbor, Ohio, Sanna (Darrel) Bashor, Crest Hill, Andrea (Steve) Brocken, Custer, Wis., and Katie (Doug) Salvatori, Minooka. Great-grandchildren number 11 and are Abigail, Madeline, Jacob, Evan, Adeline, Chase, Mikayla, Lillian, Lacilyn, Mia, and Annabelle. Her siblings, Don (Elaine) Turek and Irene (Bob) Banky, remain in their homes in the western suburbs.

Mildred was also predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Mildred Dusek Turek.

The memorial service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, LaGrange, where Mildred was a member of 56 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, 1658 S. Ill. Route 2, Oregon IL 61061, or Pinecrest Manor, 414 S. Wesley Ave., Mt. Morris IL 61054.
