Ida M. Hurd

Ida Mae Hurd, 85, Oregon, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at the Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.

She was born Nov. 30, 1927 in Oregon the daughter to Joseph Lee and Isabella (Sutton) Fletcher.

Ida graduated from Oregon High School in 1945.

She married LaVerne R. Hurd on June 16, 1946 in Oregon.  Laverne preceded her on Feb. 2, 2008.

Ida worked for the Oregon Sewing Factory, the Coffee Cup, did alterations for National Clothing, the Dairy Freeze, and she and her husband LaVerne owned and operated the Oregonaire Restaurant in Oregon for 13 years from 1970 to 1983.

In her later years she worked at the Dollar Store in Oregon until the age of 83.

She enjoyed traveling and camping at the Good Sam Campgrounds.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Byron.

She is survived by her four children, Gary Hurd, Oregon, Sharon Daves, Pocatello, Idaho, Wayne (Jane) Hurd, Byron, and Sherry Crumbaker, Mt. Morris; brother, Harry (Valdean) Fletcher, Oregon; sister, Freda Engelkes, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Richard and Jan Andrist, Pat Hoetz, Deb King, Sid Rhodes, Larry Severns; and her faithful companion, Hans.

She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, LaVerne; five brothers, Robert, John, George, Frank, and Joe; three sisters, Mary, Helen, and Bessie; a granddaughter, Cory; and a great-grandson, Brady.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon, with the Pastor Randy Snider of the First Baptist Church of Byron officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m.

Burial will be at the Byron Cemetery.   A memorial fund has been established for the First Baptist Church in Byron.
