Proceeds from event to help local women
The second annual KB Tough Run event will be held on Saturday, June 29 at the White Pines Ranch located just west of Oregon.
The 2013 event is being held to support the KB fund – dedicated to helping those in the community who are burdened by a medical crisis.
This year the event will help two lifelong Oregon area women, Angie Daub and Cathryn Burger.
Angie Daub, a true “Chana Girl” even though she makes her home in Mt. Morris, has kicked cancer’s butt once and now she needs help doing it again.
Cathryn Burger, born, raised, and calling Oregon home, is a true Hawk at heart.
The nearly 5K run is sure to test participants’ off road running skills and endurance.
With the trail running through the pastures and canyons on the acreage of the White Pines Ranch this is not the average 5K.
A leisure hike, approximately a mile, will be held for those who are not interested in the Tough Run.
The afternoon also has something for everyone – even those who are not runners.
Sign in for the run and hike participants will open at 1:30 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. start. Event day registrations will be accepted.
All other festivities will start around 3 p.m. including pork chop sandwiches by the Ogle County Pork Producers, ice cream treats, beer garden, fundraising games and a kid’s zone with a bounce house.
The afternoon will end with a KB Sign burning party around 6 p.m. to help April Roos say a final good-bye to cancer.
Bring a sign to throw on the fire. Signs that needs burning can be dropped off at Gary and Sue French’s home, 608 S. 10th St., Oregon, during the week of June 24.
