Fields Project Art Show is this Sunday at Oregon's Mix Park

The 15th annual Fields Project continues this week with artists from all over the country arriving in Ogle County to live with local farm families and capture the rural scenery in their art.

The 9-day event, which carries the theme "Bringing Art and Agriculture Together", allows artists to concentrate on their specialty while being inspired by the rural Ogle County countryside and the Rock River Valley.

It culminates with an Art Fair on Sunday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mix Park in Oregon. The Art Fair will bring the visiting artists together with regional artists, including the artists from the Eagles Nest Art Group, to display and sell their creations.

"Expect to see some breathtaking, thought-provoking, and interesting work. It will come in many forms so look for it in mixed media, oil and watercolors, sculptured art, photography, jewelry, pottery and more," said Ron Bry, a member of the Fields Project.

Admission to the fair is free.  A food court will offer a variety of taste treats.

Participants can also view the ninth completed sculpture for the Oregon Sculpture Trail, titled "Soy Pod," see sidewalk art, and listen to the music of the Jim Vancko Trio.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Mix Park will also host the "Mix-It-Up" sidewalk painting.

After attending the fair, take a self-guided ride along the Oregon Sculpture Trail.

Brochures are available on the web site at and at local establishments, or consider spending the weekend in Oregon.

The Oregon Public Library's Art Gallery, 300 Jefferson St., Oregon, will also be open on Saturday, June 22. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
