Shirley A. Field

Shirley Anne Field, formerly of Mt. Carroll, passed away on Dec. 24, 2012 at the Grandview Nursing Home, Grandview, Texas.

She was born on Feb.21, 1933 in Streator, the first child of Lowell and Dorothy (Logsdon) Gray.

She spent her younger years after working at Lipton Tea Company in Streator, dancing to big band music and participating on the Lipton Company Bowling team “The Baggies.”  

She married her husband Robert Eugene Field on Aug. 31, 1957 and remained married for 44 years until his death in 2001.  

Shirley also worked at Kable Printing, Mt. Morris, and Stronghold Castle, Oregon.

She enjoyed spending time with family, as well as knitting, bowling, and walking.

Surviving are a brother, Gary (Dorothy) Leininger, Rochelle; five children, Cathy (Donnie) Harris, Grandview, Texas, Darla (David) Lepperd, Rochelle, Robert (Melodee) Field, Rockport, Texas, Trudy (Bill) Brusenbach, Vernon Hills, Brad (Angie) Field, Mt. Carroll; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.  

She was preceded in death by her husband  Robert Eugene Field; her eldest son, Tim P. Field, Oregon; her parents, Dorothy Gray Leininger and Otto Leininger,  and Lowell L. Gray; brothers, William Gray, Lowell L. Gray Jr., and Dean Leininger.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8  from 2-4 p.m. at Stronghold Castle Retreat Center, 1922 Ill. Route 2, Oregon.
