Genniel M. Howlett

Genniel M. Howlett, 91, lifelong Oregon area resident, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb.

She was born Aug. 16, 1921 in Paynes Point, the daughter of LeRoy and Alice (Griswold) Clapper.

She married Douglas R. Howlett Aug. 30, 1941 in Canton, Mo.; he died December 31, 1985.

Genniel was a 1940 graduate of Oregon High School and enjoyed cooking, sewing and flower gardening.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon and its  Ladies’ Circles.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Lyle) Moore, Lanark; sons, Gary (Joyce) Howlett, Oregon and Larry Howlett, DeKalb; grandchildren, Lori (Kurt) Daine, David (Raynelle) Howlett, Kathleen (Kyle) Schnorr, Stephen (Karrie) Howlett, Andrea (Emmanuel) Nacionales, Audrey (Joseph) Simmerman, Greg (Caroline) Howlett, Amy (Ben) Lindner, Jason (Jerica) Howlett, Lisa (Bret) Guenzler, Leann (James) Heimerdinger, and Linda (Adrian) Krueger; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Randy Ray; and a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday May 1 at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.

Arrangements were completed by Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon.
Memorials in Genniel’s name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon or Rock River Center, Oregon.
