Dwight C. Silvius

Dwight C. Silvius, 82, Polo, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at CGH Hospital, Sterling.

He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1949.

Dwight farmed for many years near Milledgeville, moving to Polo in 1983.

He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 in Berlin.

Dwight was born Oct. 15, 1930 in Oregon the son of Ross and Nellie (Heller) Silvius.   He married Doris Weigle on July 15, 1951.

Survivors include wife, Doris; daughters, Jill (Jeff) Adolph, Sterling, and Peggy Silvius, Rockford; son, Paul Silvius, Milledgeville; sister, Doris Ihnen,Akron, Ind.; brother, Wayne (Esther) Silvius, Ashton; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle) Adolph, Shorewood, Justin (Anna) Adolph, Rochelle, Barb Silvius, Chicago, Gina Silvius,  Milledgeville, and Ethan Silvius, Platteville, Wis.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Werner.

Funeral services were held April 22 at the Polo Church of the Brethren.  Burial was at South Elkhorn Cemetery, Milledgeville.

Arrangements were completed by Polo Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Milestone Inc., Rockford, or Illinois Special Olympics.
