Clara E. Pettinger

Clara E. Pettinger, 79, Dixon, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Rock Falls Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Clara was born July 2, 1933 in Mayfield, Ky., the daughter of Marvin and Myrtle (Powers) Gibson.  

She married Joseph M. Pettinger on Aug. 8, 1959 in Dixon.  

She was employed at the Dixon Developmental Center for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Ray, Dixon; two daughters, Mary Smith, Dixon and Lois (Randy) Dober,Dixon; one son, William (Beverly) Pettinger, Mt. Morris; three sisters, Barbara (Margarito) Range, Sterling, Linda McGee, Hickory, N.C. and Lois Muldoon, Chicago; one brother, Ernest (Chona) Gibson, the  Philippines; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Gibson, and two in infancy.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls with Msgr. Thomas Dzielak officiating.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Rock River Branch of the Alzheimer’s Association.
