Margaret Marie “Maggie” Otten, 82, lifelong Oregon and Byron area resident, died Monday. March 11, 2013 at KSB Hospital, Dixon, after a long illness. 

She was born Sept. 18, 1930 in Oregon, the daughter of John and Marie (Schultz) Mennenga. 

She was a 1948 graduate of Oregon High School.  

She was married to her loving husband of 58 years Richard Otten on July 2, 1955 in Oregon. 

Maggie worked as a cook for more than 15 years at The Stenhouse, Indian Village, and The 1890s Club. 

She loved the outdoors, wildflowers, and crafts. 

She is survived by her husband, Richard Otten, Byron; children, Rusty (Linda) Long, Oregon, and Jeanie (Chuck) Heng, Byron; grandchildren, Mark Long, Wisconsin, Carrie and Ryan Long, Oregon, and Jennifer Heng,Rockford; and four great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, preceded by a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Michael Hoffman of Oregon Church of God will officiate. 

At Maggie’s request, casual dress is encouraged. 

Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Oregon. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
