Gerald E. Blake

Gerald (Jerry) E. Blake, 74, Durand, died Friday, Jan. 25 at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon,

He was born on May 22, 1938 in Rockford, the son of Walter and Kathryn (McKee) Blake. 

Jerry attended Mt. Morris High School. 

He worked as a material handler for Kable Printing Company, Mt. Morris, and he also was a diesel mechanic for Binkley Enterprises.  

Jerry loved his “old time” country music, blue collar comedy, golfing, bowling, swimming, riding motorcycles, and snowmobiling.

Jerry is survived by his past wife, Joan Moore, Salton City, Calif.; children, Cheryl (Joseph) Ciuffreda, San Diego, Calif., Becky Bailey, Durand, Kathy Rude, Sycamore, Esther Martin, Marengo, Cliff (Jill) Blake, Polo; past wife, Connie Blake, Oregon, daughter, Cassie Blake, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Bertha Blake; brothers, Darrell and Lloyd Blake; and sister, Janice Johnson.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 31 at 11a.m. at Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., Mt. Morris, with Rev. Doc Newcomb officiating. 

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris.

Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ogle County Serenity Hospice and Home.
