Ronald L. Kerkhoff

Ronald Lee Kerkhoff, 65, German Valley, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Clinton, Iowa.

Ronald was born on April 17, 1947 in Freeport, the son of Fred and Eileen (Nampel) Kerkhoff.

He was a 1965 graduate of Forreston High School.

Ronald served in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968.

He married Gale Miller in German Valley on Sept. 7, 1985.

Ronald was a self-employed carpenter and also farmed in the German Valley area.

He was a member of Silver Creek Reformed Church, where he was active in many church activities.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing and duck hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Gale; two sons, Ryan Kerkhoff, Freeport, and Jake Kerkhoff, German Valley; father, Fred Kerkhoff, Freeport; brother, Rodger (Jana) Kerkhoff, Freeport; father-in-law, Reggie (Doris) Miller, German Valley; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller, German Valley; nephews, Matt (Laura) Kerkhoff, William (Carol) Hermann and Garrett Miller; nieces, Kelli (Michael) Hall and Carolyn Barclay; two great-nephews, Jake Barclay and Blakeley Kerkhoff; a great-niece, Allison Barclay; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ronald was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen;  mother-in-law, Dolores Miller; and many beloved friends and family members.

Funeral services will be held onThursday Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Rev. Randy Knoll will officiate.

Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Burke Tubbs, Freeport.

Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery.
