A former city official pleaded guilty Monday morning to a misdemeanor theft charge.
James Tegtmeyer, 48, was formerly an Oregon City Council member who currently resides in Green Bay Wis.
"We have an agreement plea to count 2 and to dismiss count 1," said Tegtmeyer's attorney Paul Whitcombe.
The guilty plea to count 2 is an open plea.
Judge Kathleen Kaufman said the open plea does not have a sentencing agreement and the judge would decide the penalty during a sentencing hearing.
"Evidence can be presented for sentencing," said Kaufman.
The sentencing hearing will be Friday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Sentencing for a Class A misdemeanor charge can be up to 1 year in jail, up to a $2,500 fine.
Tegtmeyer was accused of a Class 4 felony computer tampering charge and a Class A misdemeanor theft charge.
These charges were filed while Tegtmeyer was in a job that serviced ATM machines.
He was accused of stealing $380 from an ATM at the Johnson Oil Shell gas station on Fourth Street in downtown Oregon.
The alleged theft took place in December 2011.
Tegtmeyer served on the Oregon City Council from 2003 to 2007 and ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2007 and 2011.
