Harold L. Mathiot

Harold L. Mathiot, 90, Ridott, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe, Wis.

Harold was born in Freeport on March 20, 1922, the son of Clark and Helen (Bessert) Mathiot.

Harold served  in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He worked at Baxter Oil Company and Crestwood Oil before retiring in 1985. 
Harold married Isabelle S. Cary on March 15, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa.

He attended Ridott Community Church.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing camping, and golfing.

Harold served on the Ridott and German Valley Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years.

He also served for 42 years for the Village of Ridott.

Survivors include his wife, Isabelle Mathiot; son, Larry (Dawn) Mathiot; daughter, Faith Heitkam; daughter-in-laws, Barbara (Mathiot) Zuspann, Springfield, and Barbara (Link) Mathiot, DeForest, Wis.; grandchildren, Stacy Huett, Stockton, Brian (Caroline) Mathiot and Mike (Jennifer) Mathiot, both of Springfield, Charlene Mathiot, Wausau, Wis., Joe (Melissa) Mathiot, Verona, Wis., Nathan (Sarah) Mathiot,Wheeling, and Ryan (Catherine) Mathiot, Chicago; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Timothy and Terry; two brothers; and one sister.
 
Funeral services were Jan. 5 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport, with Rev. Mark Vlad officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for German Valley Fire Department and Ridott Community Church.
