Strong winds and snow began falling across Ogle County Thursday afternoon as residents braced for predictions of "blizzard-like" condtions.

Hardest hit was the county's northwest corner which received the heaviest snow and strongest winds.

Forrestville Valley schools remained closed on Friday after closing early on Thiursday,

At 3 p.m. Thursday, Ogle County government offices closed due to heavy winds and near freezing temperatures. Those offices resumed normal hours on Friday.

Schools in Oregon and Polo also closed early on Thursday in anticipation of several inches of snow.

Those schools were open on Friday as less than 3 inches of snow fell in those areas. However, rural roads remained ice-covered due to snow whipped by high winds through the night.
