Charles W. “Bill” Black, 64, Rockford, and formerly of Oregon, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 in River Bluff Nursing Home, Rockford.

He was born Sept. 14, 1948 in Oregon, the son of Richard and Ida (Herbert) Black.

Bill was a 1966 graduate of Oregon High School and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam.

He lived in Rockford the past 30 years and worked for many years at Mechanical Tool & Engineering, Rockford.

He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.

She is survived by sisters, Iola Geyer, Oregon, Lori (Eric) Wirstrom, Machesney Park, and Martha Picchi and Julie Scott, both of Rockford; brother, Terry (Cheryl) Picchi, Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Dale Geyer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with Pastor Michael Hoffman of Oregon Church of God officiating.

Private burial will be at Daysville Cemetery.

No visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
