Rovert V. Bacon

Robert V. Bacon, 90, a lifelong resident of Oregon and Byron, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris, after a long illness.

He was born in Oregon and graduated from Oregon High School.

After working for E.D. Etnyre  and KOL – Master, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees in October of 1943 and served in the South Pacific until January of 1946.

Upon his return to Oregon, he was employed by Quaker Oats in Oregon and Rockford for the next 40 years.

His humor was well recognized by the Quaker Oats Old-Timers Club and his many friends.

He was a lifetime member of Oregon VFW Post 8739.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Medins Bacon; daughters, Suzette (Tim) Mahurin and Annette Bacon; sister, Jane (Dean) Barr; and step-son, Peter (Becky) Medins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Burns V. Bacon and Anna (Dirksen) Bacon; brother, “Bud” (Loretta) Bacon; and sister, Evelyn (Jiggs) Burright.

Private services are pending.

Memorials may be directed to Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris, or Oregon VFW Post 8739.
