Paul J. Gerardy, Jr.

Paul James Gerardy Jr., 43, Oregon, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 in Oregon.

He was born in St. Charles, on Sept. 18, 1969.

He was a 1987 graduate of Leland High School and then attended Northern Illinois University for his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree.

He married Marcy L. Springborn on Sept. 12, 1992 in Hinckley.  Paul was a systems analyst at Ingersoll Cutting Tool, Rockford.

His passion was running and he served as the cross country coach at D. L. Rahn Junior High, was a member of the “Big Bertha” running group, competed in numerous half and full marathons, and was proud to have completed an Iron Man competition in Madison, Wis.

Survivors include his wife, Marcy; son  Branden “Bob”, at home; mother, Louise Gerardy, Hinckley; father, Rev. Paul (Lynn) Gerardy Sr., Zion; sisters, Annette (David) Ditzler, Polo, Pamela (Steve) Moga, Oswego, and Leslie Gerardy, Sandwich; brother, Bruce (Laurie) Gerardy, Stillman Valley; parents-in-law, Bill and Joyce Springborn, Iron River, Mich.; sister-in-laws, Lisa (Dan) Norris, Des Plaines, and Karla Springborn, Lancaster, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Stephen.

Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at  Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with his father, Rev. Paul James Gerardy Sr., officiating.
