One is injured when car strikes semi-trailer near Polo Oct. 16

One person was injured Oct. 16 around 4:15 p.m. in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Milledgeville Road and Freeport Road, west of Polo.

According to a press release by the Ogle County Sheriff's Department, the accident involved a tractor trailer semi-truck and a car.

Police said a grain truck driven by Jeff Frey, 42, Polo, was stopped on Milledgeville Road waiting to turn south onto Freeport Road when a car, driven by Jane A. Pendgraft, 72, Polo, failed to stop as she approached the same stop sign and struck the rear of the grain truck.

Frey was uninjured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Pendgraft was transported to KSB Hospital in Dixon by the Polo Ambulance service for injuries suffered in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Polo Police Department and Polo Fire Department at the scene.
