Marvin K. Bollman

Marvin Keith Bollman, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at The Manor Care, Davenport, Iowa.  

He worked for Borden Milk Company, Dixon, Martin-Marietta, Oregon, and as a Wal-Mart greeter in Dixon and Sterling.

Marvin was born July 6, 1935 in Sterling, the son of Wilbur and Marian (Swartz) Bollman.  

He served in the U.S. Army.  

Marvin was an avid collector of toy tractors and trucks.  

Being a greeter at Wal-Mart was more than a job to Marvin, it was his passion as he enjoyed all of “his” customers and co-workers.

Survivors include his children, Karen Busser, Byron, and Steven Bollman, Dixon; three grandchildren, Danielle (Chris) Schindlbeck, Arlington Heights, Benjamin Busser, Oregon, and Kayla Busser,

Byron; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Schindlbeck; his mother, Marian Bollman, Dixon; two brothers, Dale (Diana) Bollman, Harmon, and Frank Bollman, Rock Falls; and one sister, Janet (Jim) Warner, Stillman Valley.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one son-in-law, Paul Busser.

Funeral services were Oct. 14 at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon,  with the Rev. Jack Brown, chaplain of Heartland Hospice, officiating.  

Burial with full military graveside services provided by the combined veterans’ organizations, was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Dixon.

A memorial has been established to the Dixon Veterans Park.
