C. Evan Kinsley

C. Evan Kinsley, 100, North Manchester, Ind., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, Ind. 

He was born Aug. 27, 1912 in Hartville, Ohio, the son of Aaron and Lottie Carper Kinsley.

He married Lucile I. Buck on June 25, 1935.  She died Dec. 29, 2010.

Evan graduated from Manchester College in 1934, received his masters degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1941 and did advanced studies at Northern Illinois University.  

He was a 50-plus year member of the Kiwanis Club, member of the North Manchester Shepherds Center, Wabash County Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the National Education Association.

Kinsley was a teacher and principal for 21 years at Mt. Morris High School. 

From 1965-67 he and his wife, Lucile, served the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria as educational missionaries. 

From 1967-1974 he was principal of Franklin Center High School, Franklin Grove, and from 1974-77 he was Director of Placement and Career Development at Manchester College, retiring in 1977.  

He served as a trustee of Manchester College from 1956-1965.

He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, Ind. 

He is survived by three sons, Dale (Cheryll) Kinsley, Lummi Island, Wash., Kenneth (Karen) Kinsley, Monticello, Minn., Gerald (Cindy) Kinsley, Loves Park; a daughter, Joyce Mann, Chico, Calif.; a brother, Gene Kinsley, Daytona Beach, Fla.;  a half-brother, Keith Pontius, Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by his parents, wife, two brothers, and two sisters.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Burial will be at a later date at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Dixon.
