Belva V. Hammer

Belva V. Hammer, 97, Polo, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Polo Rehab and Health Care Center.  


She was born on Nov. 19, 1914 in Lincoln Township, Ogle County, to George and Sadie (Zumdahl) Hammer.  


Belva attended Mt. Morris High School, graduating with the class of 1932.  


She was an inactive member of the West Branch Church of The Brethren.  


She went to the senior center for meals nearly without fail for 15 years.  


She was a member of the Buffalo Grange.  


She enjoyed embroidery and won several contests with her crafts.  


Belva is survived by two sisters, Blanche Bloyer and Norma Stuff; and one brother, Maynard (Dorris) Hammer. 


She was preceded in death by her parents.


Belva’s family would like to extend a note of special thanks to the nursing staff at Polo Rehab and Health Care Center for their kind and loving care.  


Private funeral services will be held and interment will take place in Fairmount Cemetery, Polo. 


Memorial contributions may be made to the Polo Senior Center or Polo Rehab and Health Care Center .
