Edward C. Jones

Edward C. Jones, 60, lifelong Oregon area resident, died Monday, Oct.1, 2012 at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 27, 1952 in Aledo, the son of Russell and Margaret (Pasdertz) Jones.

Ed was a 1970 graduate of Oregon High School and a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was employed as a tree trimmer more than 30 years, lastly with Asplundh Tree Service.

Ed enjoyed crossword puzzles and cooking and was a Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by a son, Russell (Diana Holland) Jones, Oregon; daughter, Brianne (Paul) Drozd, Oregon; grandchildren, Ian, Andru, Amelia, and Jackson; brothers, Donald (Clarice) Jones, Perry,  Urban Jones, Rockford, and John (Joni) Jones, Oregon; sisters, Susan (Thomas) McCollom, Mendota and Mary (Lawrence) Terry, Buda; and brother-in-law, Charlie Kitzmiller, Oregon.

He was predeceased in death by his parents and sister, Laurel Kitzmiller. Memorial service was Friday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, preceded by visitation. Pastor David Rogula will officiate.

Betty J. Remmers

Betty J. Remmers, 69, Mt. Morris, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.

Betty was born July 9, 1943, in Dixon, the daughter of Leslie and Jeanette (Good) Kitzmiller.

She graduated from Forreston High School class of 1961.

Betty married Louis B. Remmers on July 19, 1976 in Princeton. Louis preceded her in death in November 1987.

Betty was a bartender at various locations in the area for many years.

She and her husband operated Louie’s Place in Mt. Morris.

In later years, she was employed by Dawson Subscriptions and Kable News Fullfillment  Company.

Betty is survived by a son, Jason (Michelle) DeArvil, Dixon; step-daughters, Janice (Bob) Maas, Stillman Valley, Carol (Olie) Warning, Rochelle, and Sharon (Mike) Crase, Kirkland;  grandchildren, Allison, Kirsten, and Natalie DeArvil, Dixon; four step-grandchildren, Deborah Maas, Stillman Valley, Lisa (Jeff) Froman, Rolling Meadows, Sarah (Steven) Whitmore, Rockford, and Jennifer (Kristine Aquisap) Warning, Bolingbrook; eight step-great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Miller, Mt. Morris, sister-in-law, Judy Kitzmiller, Forreston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; brother, John Kitzmiller; and step-grandson, Mike Maas.

A memorial service was held Saturday Oct. 6 at 11a.m. at Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., Mt. Morris, with Rev. Richard Bright officiating.

Burial of cremains was in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris.

A memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.

Arrangements were completed by Finch Funeral Home, Mt. Morris.
