Dear Editor,

I was sorry to read recent Barb Adkins’ Letter to the Editor saying she was no longer collecting and distributing pet food to needy owners in Oregon.

It’s hard work to pick up, deliver and distribute pet food.  Her letter said donations were “way down.”

Adkins, whom I’ve not met but have spoken with on the phone, did this for several years.

I believe pets are important to humans’ well-being.  Unfortunately, for some owners, pet care costs can be prohibitive.

Surely Adkins’ admirable efforts helped many pet owners keep their pets.

I hope that someone will continue Adkins’ charitable work.  Pets and people...a partnership worth helping.
