Work group thanks those who helped with Fountain Fundraiser

Dear Editor,

The Mt. Morris Community Work Group thanks the many people who volunteered their time to assist us with the Fountain Fundraiser.

We could not have done it without those who helped prepare food, wait on tables, sell dinner
and raffle tickets, clean-up, supply the food service table, take down tables, and serve as concierges and hosts.

We thank our Mt. Morris historians and Vacation Bible School staff for their exhibits and the Economic Development and Tourist Groups for their Meet and Greet sessions.

The Pinecrest Grove Community Center was a superb venue for our fundraiser given its unique combination of dining, meeting and exhibit capabilities.

Manager June Jacobs was most supportive.

We also thank the staff of “Smells Like Breakfast” for their advise and use of some of their equipment.

Please support their monthly Fourth Saturday breakfasts at the Grove from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Students visit their community

Dear Editor,

Thank you to the community of Oregon.

The David L. Rahn Junior High seventh graders once again experienced unique opportunities thanks to many people in the Oregon community.

To reinforce our government unit and increase awareness of our community’s resources and treasures, the students spent one day in Oregon touring the judicial center, the courthouse, the Oregon Public Library, and the Ogle County Museum.

They also visited many other outdoor sites, including the parks and statues.

The students would like to thank in particular: Ron McDermott, Bill Bailey, Judge Kathleen Kauffman, Judge Robert Hanson, Judge Pemberton, Deb Herman, and Marsha Zaccone.

These people and many others helped in offering an invaluable experience for us.

Thank you!

DLR Seventh Grade Students and

Teacher Joanne Pennock
