Construction work to begin on Ill. 2 through Castle Rock State Park

Motorists traveling south of Oregon on Ill. 2 have a new consrtruction work zone to navigate starting May 29, weather permitting.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is resurfacing 1.4 miles of the state highway, four miles south of Oregon in Castle Rock State Park.

Lane restrictions will be in place during the project and the maximum width in the construction zone will be 10 feet.

Drivers are strongly urged to slow down and use caution when driving through the construction zone and watch for workers.

Delays could be possible in the construction area.

The $267,928 project is scheduled to be completed in early June.

This is the second project on Ill. 2. The bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad at the south edge of Oregon is currently under construction and is down to one lane.
