SuperValu store in Oregon is getting a facelift

An Oregon grocery store is receiving a facelift this spring.

Jim Kauffman, owner of the SuperValu grocery store on Fourth and Franklin Streets is adding a new store front and fixing the parking lot.

“The construction on the store addition should be completed by July 1,” he said. “There is a temporary entrance on the side of the building on Fourth Street.”

When completed, 2,000 square feet will be added to the business.

“A lot of the added space will be gained in our storage area,” said Kauffman. “We are adding new freezers and refrigerated storage.  The customers will see a new entry way made from brick, stone, and glass.”

The new entrance will be approximately 25 feet west from the old entrance.

This was done to make the entrance area bigger and safer for the customers.

TCI Construction, LaCrosse, Wis. is the contractor for the store addition.

“I talked to corporate SuperValu and they recommended TCI for the work,” said Kauffman.

When the building is completed, Kauffman said the parking lot will be completely removed and repaved.

Kauffman has owned the Oregon SuperValu for 22 years.

Buildings on Franklin Street were purchased last year and demolished in July to make room for the expansion and parking lot.
